DELF A2 registration — 2026 sessions

The DELF A2 certifies an elementary level of independence in French: recognised as an official diploma of the Ministry of National Education, it is a solid first step before the DELF B1 (now required for the 10-year resident card) or the DELF B2 (French naturalisation).

What is the DELF A2?

The DELF A2 is the official diploma that certifies an elementary level of French according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). A DELF A2 holder can communicate in simple everyday situations, describe their environment and express immediate needs.

The DELF A2 was historically the minimum level for the 10-year resident card, but since the immigration law of 26 January 2024, this threshold has been raised to the DELF B1. The A2 nonetheless remains an important milestone in the process and one of the levels most often taken at our centre.

Minimum mark to pass: 50/100 in total, with at least 5/25 per exam.

2. Enter your civil status and upload a double-sided ID document — your candidate account is created automatically in the process.
3. Pay online — registration confirmed immediately.
4. The official exam notice reaches you by email around 2 weeks before the exam.

Am I ready for the DELF A2?

This level is right for you if you can already do most of the following:

• understand and use simple everyday expressions and basic phrases;
• introduce myself and ask simple questions about personal details;
• describe my family, where I live, and what I do in simple terms;
• communicate in routine tasks requiring simple exchanges of information;
• understand short, simple texts and notices in familiar contexts;
• interact in a basic way if the other person speaks slowly and clearly.

How long does it take to prepare?

A motivated learner can aim for the DELF A2 after 150 to 200 hours of French. The most important thing: work on written production (short, simple texts: messages, postcards, brief accounts of experiences) and listening comprehension (everyday dialogues, announcements, short conversations).
