What is the DELF?

The DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of National Education and administered by France Éducation International. It certifies your level of French in a reliable and recognised way, across the four skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, written production and oral production. How to register for the DELF, step by step

1. From the GoDELF home page, choose your level and the session that suits you.
2. Enter your personal details and upload a valid ID document — your candidate account is created automatically.

4. You receive your official invitation by e-mail about 2 weeks before the session.

How do I register for the DELF?

From the GoDELF home page, select the desired level and session (A1 to C2), complete your file (personal details, ID document, photo) and pay online. Your candidate account is created automatically and your invitation reaches you by e-mail about 2 weeks before the exam.

Which DELF level should I choose?

A1 and A2 certify a beginner to elementary level; B1 is required for the 10-year resident card; B2 for French naturalisation and many universities; C1 and C2 (DALF) certify an advanced to expert level and grant an exemption from French-language tests at university. If in doubt, start from the level targeted by your administrative or academic project.

How much does DELF registration cost?

The 2026 individual fee ranges from 93 € (DELF A1) to 200 € (DALF C1 and C2): A1 93 €, A2 115 €, B1 130 €, B2 150 €, C1 and C2 200 €. Group school/association registrations can be adjusted on a quotation basis.

What is the difference between the DELF and the DALF?

The DELF covers levels A1 to B2 and the DALF covers levels C1 and C2. They are two complementary official diplomas on the same CEFR scale; the DALF certifies the most advanced levels.

Where can I sit the DELF in Île-de-France?

GoDELF (Centre Zenith) is a centre accredited by France Éducation International, located in Bezons (95870), accessible from across the Val-d'Oise, Paris and the western Paris region. Registration is done online, the exam on site.

Is the DELF diploma valid for life?

Yes. The DELF and the DALF are official diplomas of the French Ministry of National Education, valid for life, unlike the TCF/TEF tests which are valid for only 2 years.

Can the DELF be taken online?

No. The exam takes place on site in an accredited centre. Only registration (file and payment) is done online via GoDELF.
