Your questions, answered
Which French level do I need for my application or job?
Since 1 January 2026 (law no. 2024-42 of 26 January 2024):
- A2 for a first multi-year residence permit (CESEDA article L. 433-4);
- B1 for a first resident card (CESEDA article L. 413-7);
- B2 for French nationality (articles 14 and 37 of decree no. 93-1362, as amended by decree no. 2025-648 of 15 July 2025).
Check the requirements and exemptions for your situation on Service-Public.fr before booking. For work or study, ask the employer or institution which level they require.
Is this diploma official and accepted for my application?
Yes. DELF and DALF are official French Ministry of Education diplomas, valid for life. They can prove your French level for an application, subject to its required level and accepted documents. They do not replace a separate civic exam where one is required.
When will I receive my results and diploma? Can I meet my deadline?
Results are currently published 4 to 6 weeks after the date of your group tests, and the diploma may take another 4 to 6 weeks. If you have an application deadline, take these timescales into account when choosing your session.
What is the price, and what does it include?
Each session shows its price before registration. It includes the group tests and the individual oral test. Any optional services are listed in the summary before payment.
Where and how does the exam take place?
The exam takes place in person at 50 rue de Pontoise, 95870 Bezons. It includes group tests (written and listening) and an individual oral test, which may be scheduled at a different time. Your invitation confirms the dates and times.
When is the oral test held?
Generally by the end of the week after the group tests at the latest. We do our best to examine as many candidates as possible on the same day as the written tests, giving priority to those who travel from far away. If you are unavailable on certain days, let us know. Your invitation gives the date and time of your oral test.
How do I register?
Choose your level and session, enter your details and pay online by card. Your ID must be valid for at least one week after the date of the group tests, so that it is still valid on the day of the individual oral test.
What happens if I fail the exam?
To pass, you need at least 50/100 overall and at least 5/25 in each test. If you fail, you can register for another session as often as needed. Each new registration requires payment.
Can I cancel, postpone or get a refund?
Contact examen@godelf.com as soon as possible, before the exam. Refunds and postponements depend on the cancellation terms accepted when booking; a change is not automatic.
Can a school or association register a group?
Yes. Start by registering your school or association in the school area at godelf.com/school: we will then guide you through registering your learners as a group.
